Christopher John Chad
Former Dean of Rock Ridge Highschool, MN
a former student told a St. Louis County Sheriff's Office investigator and Gilbert Police Chief Ty Techar on December 4, 2025 that Chad sexually assaulted them multiple times between 2021 and 2023, when they were 14 to 16 years old.
Christopher John Chad, 52, spent close to two decades working in Minnesota's Iron Range schools — teaching, coaching, eventually working his way up to dean of students at Rock Ridge High School in Virginia. He's now facing criminal charges in two different states.
On July 6, 2026, St. Louis County prosecutors charged him with one count of first-degree criminal sexual conduct and two counts of second-degree criminal sexual conduct. The complaint alleges he assaulted a former student multiple times between 2021 and 2023, when the student was 14 to 16 years old, and that the contact started online through Grindr and Snapchat before the two realized they knew each other in person. At least one alleged encounter happened on school grounds, according to the complaint.
He's also been sitting in the Fulton County, Georgia jail since early 2025 on a separate case — investigators there allege he used the messaging app Kik to send sexually explicit messages and images to a 12-year-old. Rock Ridge put him on leave in March 2025 after that case surfaced, and the district has since confirmed he no longer works there.
These are charges, not convictions, in both states. Chad is presumed innocent unless and until a court says otherwise. I'll update this record once the case number, complaint, and current status are confirmed against the primary Minnesota court file.
